The Bahamas
The Bahamas National Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT-BS) and the Bahamas Ministry of Economic Affairs joined LAC4 on behalf of the Government of the Bahamas in August 2025.
Cooperation between LAC4 and The Bahamas has focused on strengthening national cybersecurity governance, enhancing cyber resilience and supporting the development of strategic cyber capabilities. A key milestone in this partnership was the National Cybersecurity Risk Assessment, conducted in 2026 to support the development of a more comprehensive national cybersecurity framework. In addition, Bahamian representatives regularly participate in LAC4’s regional trainings, workshops and policy dialogues, contributing to knowledge exchange and closer cooperation across the Caribbean.
The National Computer Incident Response Team of The Bahamas (CIRT-BS) is the government-mandated focal point for cybersecurity, established in 2023 to protect national infrastructure. It provides both proactive and reactive services to the public and private sectors, including incident response, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity awareness. Through its work, CIRT-BS plays a key role in strengthening national cyber resilience and safeguarding critical systems.

LAC4 is Supporting the Bahamas’ Cyber Resilience with National Cybersecurity Risk Assessment (April 2026)
LAC4 in cooperation with EU CyberNet is supporting the government of the Bahamas with its national cybersecurity risk assessment. Conducted with the capacity of EU CyberNet Expert Pool, the assessment supports implementation of the Bahamas’ national cybersecurity strategy in establishing a robust national cybersecurity posture.
The Bahamas on behalf of the National Computer Incident Response Team of the Bahamas (CIRT-BS) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Bahamas has become the 16th member of LAC4.

As the Latin American and Caribbean region undergoes rapid digital transformation, the traditional Security Operations Center (SOC) model is being challenged by the need for increased agility and cross-border collaboration. To address these evolving demands, LAC4 hosted its latest members-only webinar on this topic, which aimed at providing participants with a foundational blueprint for building and scaling effective SOCs.
Members-only Seminar: a Legal Architecture and a Common Framework (April 2026)
The seminar focused on the development of a coherent legal architecture and a common cybersecurity framework in Latin America, beginning with an introduction to the NIS 2 Directive adopted by the European Union in 2022 and the cybersecurity situation in Czech Republic. The session highlighted that, although many countries in the region are aligning with international standards, adapting these frameworks to local institutional, technical and economic realities remains a significant challenge.
Members-only Seminar on CSIRT Simulation Scenarios (February 2026)
The 8th LAC4 members-only seminar, delivered by experts Helio Sant’Ana and Ian McWilliam, focused on strengthening CSIRT preparedness through cyber incident simulation exercises. The session emphasised that effective incident response depends not only on technical tools but also on coordinated procedures and teams trained to operate under pressure.

The 7th LAC4 members-only seminar, led by EU CyberNet Experts Gabriela Reynaga Vargas and Jurica Čular, focused on cybersecurity governance as a cornerstone for ensuring digital security, institutional resilience, and operational continuity in the face of complex and persistent cyber risks. While national governance frameworks, such as cybersecurity strategies, public policies and regulatory measures, set out broad lines of action, their effectiveness was shown to depend on strong organizational structures capable of translating principles into concrete mechanisms.
