The Bahamas Joins LAC4

The Bahamas on behalf of the National Computer Incident Response Team of the Bahamas (CIRT-BS) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Bahamas has become the 16th member of LAC4.

About CIRT-BS

The National Computer Incident Response Team of The Bahamas (CIRT-BS) is a key component of the Government of The Bahamas’ Digital Transformation to Strengthen Competitiveness project. As the national focal point for cybersecurity incident coordination, CIRT-BS serves both public and private sectors by delivering proactive and reactive response services, while fostering cybersecurity awareness and education nationwide.

CIRT-BS leads the implementation and ongoing execution of the National Cybersecurity Strategy (NCS) a strategic framework that defines the roles of key governmental and non-governmental stakeholders and guides resource allocation to address evolving cyber threats.

By strengthening incident response and management capabilities across all sectors, CIRT-BS plays a critical role in enhancing The Bahamas’ cybersecurity posture and national resilience.

About LAC4

LAC4 has 15 members with the addition of the Bahamas, represented by respective national authorities or organisations: Antigua and Barbuda, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, the Netherlands, Panama, Uruguay, pan-regional RedCLARA, Cyber 4.0: Cyber Competence Center (Italy) and NUMU Group.

Established in 2022 in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, LAC4 is the flagship initiative of the EU CyberNet. LAC4 serves as a training and knowledge hub for sharing expertise in cybersecurity and cybercrime. It also seeks to facilitate practical collaboration between the LAC region and the EU; promoting the benefits of an open, free and inclusive cyberspace, and enhance cyber capacities within the LAC region.

CyberWeek@LAC4 2025 concluded today in Santo Domingo with 0ct0b3rf35t, a platform to offer informal exchange of national experiences and best practices in dealing with cyber incidents. Over the course of four days, more than 40 speakers from more than 20 countries took the stage to exchange knowledge with more than 150 participants from more than 30 countries for building regional cyber resilience and strengthen cooperation between LAC and European countries.

Building Borderless Resilience: Day 2 at CyberWeek@LAC4 2025

The second day of CyberWeek@LAC4 2025 dove deep into threat and organizational resilience and cross-border cooperation. Through hands-on workshops and national case studies, participants examined how to strengthen detection capabilities and adapt to evolving regulatory and operational demands.

The first day of CyberWeek@LAC4 2025 revolved around improving technical skills and capabilities with case studies from the region and Europe as well as explaining the importance of communications when mitigating often very technical threats.
