“Participating SME-s from the Andean region highlight growing need for practical, accessible and actionable cybersecurity support. As digital threats evolve, businesses must strengthen their resilience. LAC4, together with our partners, are happy to support SME-s through targeted training tailored to their needs. Participants have demonstrated strong motivation to address vulnerabilities and improve their cybersecurity posture, showing a clear commitment to turn awareness into action.” – Cesar Moline, LAC4 regional manager.
“Digital transformation is one of the greatest opportunities of our time, provided it is based on trust and security. Initiatives like this by LAC4 demonstrate the European Union’s commitment to cooperating with Latin America and the Caribbean on digitalization and cybersecurity: we strengthen capacities, promote international standards, and support SMEs to access a secure, competitive digital economy connected to Europe.” – Jonathan Hatwell, the Ambassador of the European Union to Peru.
“Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) constitute the main productive fabric of the Andean countries and play a fundamental role in job creation, innovation, and development. In a context of increasing digital transformation, it is essential to strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities to guarantee reliable, competitive, and sustainable environments. From the General Secretariat of the Andean Community, we value this initiative promoted together with LAC4 and the European Union, which reaffirms the importance of international cooperation to support our SMEs in the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy.” – Ambassador Gonzalo Gutiérrez Reinel, Secretary General of the Andean Community.
Training offers a practical introduction to information security by combining foundational knowledge with hands-on application. It explores how organisations can assess and strengthen their cyber security posture using maturity evaluation approaches, while explaining security management standards. Training places focus on everyday cyber hygiene in the workplace and builds toward a risk-based mindset, guiding participants through identifying risks, analysing potential scenarios and developing plans to mitigate cyber risks. It also addresses key operational topics such as supply chain security, zero trust principles and effective incident management. Participants will engage with real-world cases, learn about common attack techniques and threat vectors and participate in exercise to translate concepts into actionable steps tailored to their own organisational needs.
Training will be conducted by two EU CyberNet experts: Mari Seeba, a leading cybersecurity expert in Estonian Information System Authority whose expertise lies in information security management, risk analysis and auditing, and Milena Patiño Villa who is a Colombian-Spanish cybersecurity expert with extensive experience in intelligence, corporate information security and risk management with a managerial background.
Training is organised in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Andean Community and the Delegations of the European Union to Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Training takes place from 11 to 13 May in Lima, Peru.
