LAC4 to Support Chile in Developing a Cyber Crisis Communications Plan

LAC4 will support Chile’s National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCI) in developing a cyber crisis communications plan, tailored to the country’s institutional context and operational needs.

“The initiative aims to strengthen Chile’s capacity to communicate clearly, promptly and consistently during significant cyber incidents. Effective crisis communication helps people understand what has happened, how they may be affected and what actions they should take. It also supports technical response efforts and facilitates coordination among public institutions, the private sector and international partners. Ultimately, this cooperation with ANCI will strengthen coordinated public communication, support incident response and help safeguard public trust during cyber crises.” – César Moliné, LAC4 Regional Manager.

The plan will be developed by EU CyberNet and LAC4 experts Claudia Yanira Gómez and Andreea-María Pierșinaru, who will work closely with ANCI and relevant stakeholders to develop practical guidance for communicating effectively during cyber crises. Experts will focus on developing an actionable plan in the upcoming months that establishes communication principles, protocols, roles and responsibilities for sharing information during a cyber crisis. It will align with Chile’s national cybersecurity strategy, CERT structure and existing crisis management frameworks. Furthermore, it builds on the revision of current communication mechanisms and relevant policies and procedures, identifying strengths, gaps and opportunities for improvement.

The initiative reflects LAC4’s continued commitment support LAC institutions in preparing for cyber threats and strengthening cyber resilience and translating cooperation between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean into practical and sustainable capabilities.
