As small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) remain among one of the most vulnerable targets for cybercrime while often lacking resources and expertise to respond effectively or build cyber resilience, the webinar series was organised to focus on practical steps SMEs can take to strengthen their digital security. Webinars addressed cybersecurity challenges businesses face, combining expert insights with practical recommendations and real-world examples to help SME-s better understand evolving cyber threats and raise awareness.
Webinars explored the growing connection between cybersecurity and artificial intelligence: how cybercriminals use increasingly AI tools to automate, personalize and scale malicious activities, including phishing campaigns and fraud. Participants also examined the growing cybercrime-as-a-service ecosystem and discussed practical precautions business should take when adopting AI tools into their daily operations.
Another session focused on the impact of cyber threats and online violence on women entrepreneurs. Experts highlighted how gaps in digital awareness and access to cybersecurity-related knowledge can increase exposure to online abuse or harassment that may directly impact business activities. Participants also learned practical tools and approaches for improving personal and organizational digital safety.
Session on cyber resilience examined why it is becoming increasingly important for SMEs operating in rapidly evolving digital environment. Discussions focused on practical methods for improving organisational preparedness, strengthening internal cybersecurity practices and developing resilience against disruptions caused by cyber incidents.
Series also addressed cybersecurity risks associated with social media use for business. Participants and experts explored how social media platforms can expand the attack surface for cybercriminals through social engineering, impersonation and information gathering. This session provided practical guidance on securing business accounts, protecting sensitive information and promoting safer online communication practices.
Final webinar focused on cybersecurity of supply chains and the growing importance of managing third-party risks. Discussions examined how vulnerabilities within supply chains can affect business resilience and broader economic landscape. Participants explored practical approaches for identifying critical risks, prioritizing cybersecurity measures and improving resilience across supplier and partner networks.
Webinar series spanning over five weeks was co-organised with the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota (CCB). Seminars were led by EU CyberNet experts Iris Palma and Julio Ureña.
