Seminar on Best Practices in Cybersecurity for Internet Service Providers

LAC4 in cooperation with the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), organised a virtual seminar on best practices in cybersecurity for internet service providers (ISPs) on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

In the context of increasing digitalisation in Latin America and the Caribbean, cybersecurity has become a key pillar to ensure network stability, user protection and the continuity of essential services. In this scenario, ISPs play a critical role as the first line of defense against cyber threats as they operate the infrastructure that underpins the digital ecosystem. However, the region still faces significant challenges, including heterogeneous regulatory frameworks and varying levels of maturity in the implementation of cybersecurity measures.

Against this backdrop, it is essential to strengthen the exchange of experiences, promote regulatory convergence and advance toward common approaches that help protect national and regional interests.

With the support of experts from the EU CyberNet Expert Pool Martin Paas and Marcel Gerardino, the seminar brought together 85 participants and aimed to facilitate technical and strategic dialogue among regulators, ISPs, experts and other stakeholders, as well as to promote the regional exchange of experiences and best practices in cybersecurity applicable to ISPs.

LAC4 continues to promote regional dialogue spaces that contribute to strengthening capacities and developing common approaches to cybersecurity in the telecommunications sector.
