LAC4 Supports the LATAM Team for the International Cybersecurity Challenge (ICC) 2025

LAC4 is supporting the participation of Latin American and the Caribbean team in the International Cybersecurity Challenge (ICC) 2025 in Tokyo. The International Cybersecurity Challenge (ICC) is a global Capture The Flag (CTF) competition that brings together young cybersecurity talents from around the world. The 2025 edition will take place in Tokyo, Japan, from November 11 to 14, marking the first time the event is hosted in the Asian region.

“ICC is a gateway for young talent to engage with global cybersecurity community and gain hands-on experience in building defenses against ever-evolving and complicate threats. LAC4 is happy to support youth with this special training programme as we are not only preparing for the challenge, but also building long-term resilience and cybersecurity capacity across Latin America and the Caribbean.” – César Moliné, LAC4 Policy Expert.

As a part of its ongoing commitment to fostering cybersecurity talent in Latin America and the Caribbean, LAC4 has been actively supporting a group of 17 students from across the region, who will compete as LAC Cyber Team. This year, LAC4 with its partners has taken more dynamic and collaborative approach to preparations. Instead of a formal in-person session, preparatory activities are more flexible and interactive as students and trainers connect through Discord to exchange ideas, share challenges and solutions in real time to understand the core areas of offensive and defensive cybersecurity, binary exploitation, reverse engineering, advanced web vulnerabilities and fundamentals of cryptography. Through this initiative, LAC4 continues to strengthen regional cooperation and empower the next generation of cybersecurity professionals to represent Latin America on the world stage.

Participants, all aged 26 or younger, will compete in eight regional teams that have qualified through national and regional selections. The competition combines Jeopardy-style and Attack-and-Defense challenges designed to test technical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving under pressure. Alongside the competition, ICC Tokyo 2025 will feature conferences and exhibitions focused on advancing cybersecurity knowledge and awareness globally.
