LAC4 Participated in the Launch of the Cyber Cluster Global Alliance and the EU-LAC Digital Alliance Technical Exchange Visit in Costa Rica

LAC4 in cooperation with EU CyberNet participated in the EU-LAC Digital Alliance technical exchange visit on cybersecurity and secure connectivity in Central America and the Cybersec Summit 2026, held in San José, Costa Rica on 11-12 August 2026.

During the first day of the technical visit, representatives from government, particularly from Central America, industry, academia and international organisations shared experiences on cybersecurity governance, cyber resilience and secure connectivity. Participants visited the CSIRT of Costa Rica and the Promoter of Innovation and Research of Costa Rica, gaining first-hand insight into the progress Costa Rica has made in strengthening its cyber resilience.

Cybersec Summit 2026, taking place on 12 August and bringing together more than 400 international participants, marked the launch of the Cyber Cluster Global Alliance. LAC4 Programme Manager Leonardo Ortega participated in the opening panel, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in cybersecurity while stressing that cooperation is no longer merely a choice, but a necessity for development and for building a cyber-resilient digital environment.

Additionally, LAC4 engaged with stakeholders from across Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, contributing to discussions on regional cooperation, capacity building, and the development of stronger cybersecurity ecosystems. Moreover, the exchange facilitated the sharing of experiences and paved the way for new ideas and potential activities in the region in the coming years.
