NUMU Group joins LAC4

NUMU Group has become 13th member of LAC4. The accession ceremony took place in Santo Domingo on 11th November in the margins of CyberWeek@LAC4 2024.

Background

NUMU Group, established in 2018 as non-profit, mantra is “Premium, Affordable and with a Social Impact”: they’re passionate about launching and accelerating technology-based start-ups and creating digital ecosystems with promotion of inclusive entrepreneurship with local talent.

Established in 2022 in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, LAC4 is the flagship initiative of the EU CyberNet. LAC4 serves as a training and knowledge hub for sharing expertise in cybersecurity and cybercrime. It also seeks to facilitate practical collaboration between the LAC region and the EU; promoting the benefits of an open, free and inclusive cyberspace, and enhance cyber capacities within the LAC region.

LAC4 has 12 members in addition to NUMU, represented by respective national authorities or organisations: Antigua and Barbuda, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, the Netherlands, Panama, Uruguay, pan-regional RedCLARA, and Cyber 4.0: Cyber Competence Center (Italy).

Ecuador Joins LAC4

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society (Ministerio de Telecomunicaciones y de la Sociedad de la Información) of Ecuador on behalf of the Government of Ecuador has become the 12th member of LAC4. The accession ceremony took place during the IV EU-Ecuador Security Roundtable in Quito, Ecuador on 4th December 2024.

Montevideo Hosted International Workshop on Security by Design to Strengthen Cybersecurity

From November 20 to 22 2024, cybersecurity professionals, policymakers, and technology experts from Uruguay participated in the LAC4 Workshop “Security by Design”. This landmark event equipped organisations and participants with the knowledge and tools to embed robust security measures into the design phase of digital and physical products and services.
