In all popular web-pages it is possible to increase and decrease font size by holding Ctrl-key (in OS X Cmd-key) and pressing “+” or “-“-key. Introducing Open-Source Intelligence in Cybersecurity for Public Institutions

The 4th LAC4 members-only seminar, led by EU CyberNet Expert José Callero focused on introducing open-source intelligence (OSINT) aspects in cybersecurity.

In his presentation, José Callero introduced the concept and fundamentals of OSINT and its legal and ethical aspects in governance, as well as basic tools and techniques to gather, analyse and report open source information. Callero stressed that public institutions need to adopt proactive measures to enhance their cybersecurity posture in the era of increasing cyber threats. The seminar focused greatly on practical case studies where OSINT proved to be a valuable tool for public institutions: on the one hand helping government, law enforcement and regulatory bodies to enhance transparency, security and decision-making, but also for identifying cyber risks, monitoring potential threats, protecting data and improving crisis management.

Seminar was attended by 180 stakeholders and policymakers from LAC4 Participant Nations. Seminar was designed for cybersecurity stakeholders and policymakers from LAC4 member countries of Antigua and Barbuda, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, the Netherlands, Panama and Uruguay and members of RedCLARA.

Next LAC4 members-only seminar will take place in June 2025.
