Cyber Diplomacy Training Programme for Guatemala

In a global context where digitization and interconnection are increasingly common and necessary, diplomacy faces new challenges and opportunities arising from the use of cyberspace. Growing digital threats and the use of disruptive technologies highlights the need to establish cooperation frameworks where cyber diplomacy becomes a key tool for strengthening the country’s position in the international arena.

Guatemala, Guatemala City

Cyberdiplomacy allows states to negotiate standards, establish strategic alliances, access technical assistance, and participate in global debates on cyberspace governance. For Guatemala, developing diplomatic capabilities in cyber issues would not only contribute to improving its internal cybersecurity, but also to positioning itself as a responsible actor in multilateral forums. Furthermore, by training diplomats in cyber diplomacy, the country can effectively represent its interests, advocate for international legal frameworks that respond to its needs, and build coalitions to address common challenges such as disinformation, cybercrime, and state-sponsored cyberattacks. In this context, the link between national cybersecurity and digital diplomacy is essential to ensure sovereignty, stability, and cooperation in an increasingly interconnected environment.
