Study Mission to the Dominican Republic: Enhancing Cybersecurity Knowledge in the Education Sector of the Dominican Republic

LAC4 is co-organising a cyber capacity building mission to the Dominican Republic to raise the level of cyber security education in the Salesian Technical Institute of ITESA.

Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic

The 2-week co-operation programme with EU funded Erasmus+, carried out by the Estonian vocational education Centre of Kehtna, will entail teacher’s shadowing regarding teaching practices and methods and will continue with a 4—day bootcamp to 70 ICT students to raise their knowledge on cyber fundamentals via practical learning of cloud concepts, firewalls, Windows, Linux and MacOS and ethical hacking to learn about finding security flaws. The 2-week mission will culminate with a Capture the Flag (CTF) competition to put newly learned skills into practice.

Building on the foundation laid by the EU’s Cyber4Dev initiative in 2023 in the same school to raise cyber capacities in the academia, this activity continues to encourage students’ engagement in cybersecurity challenges and competitions, promoting skill development and fostering professional growth.
