The EU CyberNet project is celebrating the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Agency for the Development of Electronic Government Management and Information and Knowledge Society of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay (AGESIC) and the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA). RIA is implementing the EU CyberNet project and leading the establishment and operationalisation of the Latin America and Caribbean Cyber Competence Centre LAC4. The MoU was signed by Mr Hebert Paguas, the Executive Director of AGESIC and Mr Margus Noormaa, the Director General of RIA. The parties to the MoU agree to collaborate in supporting cyber capacity building through the LAC4 initiative in Uruguay as well as in the Southern Cone region of South America.

Uruguay is one of the regional leaders in digital transformation. Uruguay has also shown commitment to serve as a focal point in promoting cybersecurity skills development and knowledge sharing across the region, and help LAC4 to identify the specific capacity building needs to ensure a coherent and sustainable support through LAC4. The EU CyberNet is looking forward to bring some of the LAC4 training activities physically to Uruguay, in order to facilitate participation and exchange among experts and organisations in the Southern Cone region and contribute to cybersecurity community building across borders.
