The EU CyberNet project is celebrating the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Ecuador and the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA). RIA is implementing the EU CyberNet project and leading the establishment and operationalisation of the Latin America and Caribbean Cyber Competence Centre LAC4. The MoU will be signed by Mr Juan Carlos Holguín, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador, Ms Vianna Maino Isaías, Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Society of Ecuador, and Mr Margus Noormaa, the Director General of RIA. The parties to the MoU agree to collaborate in supporting cyber capacity building through LAC4 initiative in Ecuador as well as in the Andean region.

Ecuador has shown maturity and commitment to serve as a focal point in promoting cybersecurity skills development and knowledge sharing across the region, and help LAC4 to identify the specific capacity building needs to ensure a coherent and sustainable support through LAC4. The EU CyberNet is looking forward to bring some of the LAC4 training activities physically to Ecuador, in order to facilitate participation and exchange among experts and organisations in the Andean region and contribute to cybersecurity community building across borders.
