LAC4 is organising a training for Uruguayan journalists. The training, titled “Journalists on the Frontline: Reporting Safely and Accurately on Cyber Incidents”, focuses strengthening journalistic capacity in Uruguayan media to effectively understand, cover and report on cybersecurity issues, incident and cybercrime.

Montevideo, Uruguay

As digital transformation accelerates, cyber threats are becoming an increasingly visible challenge for societies, public services and communication networks. As these issues grow more complex, there is need to further strengthen awareness and preventative capabilities in media on how cyber topics and issues are communicated to the public.

The training equips journalists with improved knowledge and tools needed to explain cybersecurity developments clearly and responsibly by supporting well-informed, resilient and digitally aware societies. Additionally, the training seeks to create strong network of cybersecurity journalists who are prepared to address cybersecurity challenges, protect media from cyber attacks and contribute to better-informed, resilient and digitally aware society.

Participants will receive practical tools and frameworks to identify, analyse and report on cyber incidents while understanding broader social, technical and regulatory contexts, including emerging threats and compliance requirements.
