LAC4 members-only seminar – AI and Cybersecurity: threats and opportunities

EU CyberNet invites LAC4 members to join the members-only series of online seminars on the most topical issues of cybersecurity. The first seminar “AI and Cybersecurity: threats and opportunities” will take place on 14 August 2024 at 09.00am (UTC/GMT -5).

The aim of the seminar is to give an overview of AI, and present and discuss the benefits and harms of AI in ​​information security and cybersecurity.

Objectives:

  • State of art of AI landscape in the LAC region;
  • Development and deployment of AI;
  • Interfaces between AI and cybersecurity;
  • Policy responses;
  • The ENISA framework to cybersecurity risk and mitigation in AI;
  • Recommendations and take-aways;

Participants: open to national and regional policymakers of LAC4 member countries: Antigua and Barbuda, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Honduras, the Netherlands, Panama, Uruguay.

Speakers:

  • Amit Ashkenazi (Israel, EUCN expert): law and technology expert, consulting on policy and compliance aspects of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data protection, cloud use and ICT procurement. Amit was the legal advisor of the Israeli National Cyber Directorate (INCD), and in the Israel’s Data Protection Authority. He is a teaching and research affiliate at four Israeli universities.
  • Luis Adrian Salazar (Costa Rica, EUCN expert): digitalisation, cybersecurity and new technologies expert. Luis is the former Minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of Costa Rica. He is teaching at three universities in the areas of technology management, digitalisation and market development.
