Advanced Cybersecurity Operations Training: Leveraging Open-Source Tools for Threat Detection and Response for Jamaica

LAC4 is organising a training for Jamaica’s public sector cybersecurity professionals, as in an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape, the ability to rapidly detect, analyse and respond to security incidents is essential for organisational and national resilience.

The four-day online technical training focused on building practical, hands-on skills in open-source cybersecurity platforms for security analysts, incident responders and SOC teams. These tools offer cost-effective, flexible and highly adaptable capabilities that complement commercial solutions.

Participants will gain:

  • Practical experience configuring and using SIEM platforms such as Elastic, Wazuh, and Splunk
  • Malware analysis using sandbox technologies like Cuckoo Sandbox and CAPEv2
  • Advanced network monitoring with MALCOLM Platform, Suricata, and Arkime
  • DFIR capabilities using tools such as Autopsy, Velociraptor, and Plaso
  • Enhanced OSINT skills, including intelligence gathering from social media and messaging platforms

This training empowers cybersecurity professionals to proactively monitor, investigate and mitigate cyber threats using proven open-source technologies.
