FIRST-LAC4 Technical Colloquium
On 14-16 November, in collaboration with FIRST, The Incident Response training is conducted by Melanie Rieback and David Rufenacht.
On 14-16 November, LAC4 in collaboration with FIRST is organizing a Technical Colloquium, focusing on incident response and threat intelligence. The 3-day training includes hands-on sessions on the principle tools and methods to increase the incident response teams’ capacities to prevent and respond to cybersecurity incidents.

The Incident Response training
The Incident Response training covers Operational, Organizational, Legal, and Technical aspects of the CSIRT team’s daily operation and is aimed at giving the participants a broad understanding and expert insights on CSIRT services, staffing, incident handling methods, tools, and process, situational awareness, communications, national and international collaboration good practices.
The training is conducted by Melanie Rieback.
Dr. Melanie Rieback is the CEO/Co-founder of Radically Open Security, the world’s first non-profit computer security consultancy company. She is also a former Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Free University of Amsterdam (VU) who performed RFID security research (RFID Virus and RFID Guardian), which attracted worldwide press coverage and won several awards. Melanie worked as a Senior Engineering Manager on XenClient at Citrix, where she led their Vancouver office. Melanie was named 2010 ICT Professional of the Year (Finalist) by WomeninIT, one of the 400 most successful women in the Netherlands by Viva Magazine (Viva400) in 2010 and 2017, one of the fifty most inspiring women in tech (Inspiring Fifty Netherlands) in 2016, 2017, and 2019. The Threat Intelligence training
The Threat Intelligence training combines technical and analytical approaches, covering threat intelligence methodologies, tools and sources for data collection.
The training is conducted by David Rufenacht.
David Rufenacht is a Senior Threat intelligence analyst at InfoGuard. Previously, David worked for the Swiss National Cyber Security Center providing threat appreciation to Swiss critical infrastructure. He holds a master’s degree in international relations as well as in social anthropology.
