Building Training Capacity: LAC4 Concludes a Series of Successful Train-the Trainer Workshops in Guatemala

LAC4 in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Guatemala and the Presidential Commission for Open and Electronic Government of Guatemala conducted a series of train-the-trainer workshops in Guatemala, equipping participants with critical skills to further raise awareness of cybersecurity and cyber hygiene.

Workshops, which took place in Guatemala City and Quetzaltenango, engaged representatives from public sector, civil society, private sector and indigenous communities to address the unique cybersecurity challenges faced by organisations and companies alike, and strengthened their ability to raise awareness and implement best practices within their organisations and communities.

“With Guatemala experiencing rapid cross-societal digitalization, cybersecurity challenges have become pressing issue. As a result of these workshops, participants are expected to be able to build local training capacity and pass on their knowledge to improve cybersecurity resilience across sectors.” – Merili Soosalu, LAC4 Programme Lead.

Workshops built up from the fundamentals of cybersecurity and cyber hygiene and identifying threat to learning to deliver effective trainings and applying best practices from the region.  With theoretical knowledge combined with hands-on practical exercises, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of common cybersecurity threats and their potential impact to their communities as well as they gained skills to train others on cyber hygiene and safe online practices. In addition, participants learned to evaluate and improve cybersecurity habits within their organisations and communities.

The completion of these workshops marks a significant step in Guatemala’s cybersecurity capacity building. With newly trained trainers now equipped to lead cybersecurity awareness efforts, LAC4 and its partners look forward to continuing their support for the country’s digital transformation and cyber resilience initiatives.
